MHI Lego Club

McAuliffe Heights Lego Club is open to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade at MHI.  We meet after school on scheduled Mondays from 2:30 - 4:00 pm. from October to April.  In our club, we develop Lego engineering skills, work with EV3 Lego robots, learn coding, and most importantly, learn to work with our peers.

Free building is emphasized, as many students have only put together models by following directions and have not yet developed 3D building skills to build interactive designs.  Students are able to save their designs from week to week in order to continue their work and creativity.

We engage in a variety of activities including:
*free builds
*maintaining the school's Lego walls and supplies
*hosting a Lego-themed Tinker Tuesday once per school year
*presenting about our club at Opening Assembly
*competing in Lego Challenges
*creating themed Lego Classroom Kits
*using Legos in creative ways to create art
